Mrs. Nettie Hill Yates, 92, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Memorial Manor Nursing Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2009 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gerald A. Little officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, January 5, 2009 from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2263, Bainbridge, GA 39818. Mrs. Yates was born May 11, 1916 in Seminole County, GA, the daughter of Rufus A. Hill and Annie Wilson Hill. She graduated from West Bainbridge High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader and a member of VFW Post 4904 Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robbie Herman Yates. Survivors include two sons, Bobby H. Yates, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Columbus, GA and Hill D. Yates and his wife Suzan of Bainbridge, GA; a daughter, Phyllis Y. Cook and her husband Joe of Bainbridge, GA; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
