Norwood L. Williams, 82, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2008 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. C. Phil Tondee, Rev. Chad Cooper, and Rev. Al Murkerson, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with his grandsons serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 10, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a retired terminal operator for Southeast Terminal. He drove charter buses, was a road technician for Dean Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Inc., and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Mavis H. Williams of Bainbridge, GA; three sons, Norwood L. Williams, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Jerry Murkerson and his wife Cecilia of Hawkinsville, GA, and Al Murkerson and his wife Lindy of Bainbridge, GA; two daughters, Gaye Cash and her husband Earl of Albany, GA and June Bryan of Albany, GA; one brother, Randall Williams of Bainbridge, GA; two sisters, Ann Hester of Climax, GA and Jerane Hunt of Titusville, FL; ten grandchildren, Scott Williams, Britt Williams, Jay Murkerson, Laura M. Horne, Heath Sandlin, Al Murkerson, Jr., Dia M. Cooper, Paxton Poitevint, Amber Renfroe, and Dax Bryan; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
