Otis W. Hatcher, 88, of Austell, GA, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013. The graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Stapleton officiating. Mr. Hatcher was born August 26, 1924 in Brinson, GA, the son of Smiley Byron Hatcher, Sr. and Ola Selena Willis Hatcher. He served in the United States Army with the occupying force in Japan, after Japan accepted defeat in WWII. After re-enlisting he was awarded the purple heart for his service in the Korean War. Mr. Hatcher worked as an electrical engineer for Georgia Power for 38 years, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 60 years. He enjoyed gardening especially growing vegetables. Survivors include his son, Otis Hatcher, Jr. of Dallas, TX; his daughter, Dee Ann Hatcher of Marietta, GA; his sister, Fay White of Bainbridge, GA; his grandchildren, Katie Merrill, Wyatt Davis, and Margaret Leigh Hatcher; and his five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Minnie Lee Rich Hatcher; his daughter, Dovey Davis; his brothers, Gordon Hatcher, Ernest Hatcher, Sherriel Hatcher, S. B. Hatcher, Jr., and Lawrence Hatcher; and his grandson, Thomas Hatcher.
