Patricia Brossett

Patricia (Pat) Ellyn Gauntt Brossett, age 78, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama. Services for Ms. Brossett will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 6, at Bainbridge First Baptist Church. The Rev. Chris Humphries will officiate. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens. William R. Friedrich, Andy Hay, Justin Anderson, Abram Anderson, Joe Brown, and Walker Elrod will serve as Pallbearers. The ladies of the Hilda Byrd Sunday School Class, Marva Hay, Blaine Anderson, and Abigail Smith will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. A visitation will be held, 5:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home. The family is gathering at the home of Paula Pollock, 1115 Taylor Street, Bainbridge, Ga.

Patricia Ellyn Gauntt was born February 16, 1947, in West Point, Georgia to Hugh L. Gauntt and Mattie Davis Gauntt. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. A talented artist, she taught art for a while in Jesup, Georgia. Pat volunteered anytime she was asked to work with children and their art projects. She worked in the Decatur County School System for many years. Pat became the family caregiver and lovingly took care of 3 aunts and her parents as they aged. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church and the Hilda Byrd Sunday School Class, where she served as a teacher. She was a member of the Decatur County Artists’ Guild. Pat was kind and had a beautiful smile. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.

Pat Brossett is survived by her son, Douglas Brossett (Michele) of Stockbridge, Georgia, and cousins, Willam R. Friedrick (Wanda B.) and Elizabeth S. Friedrick. Pat is also survived by the members of her daughter-in-law’s family, considering herself an adopted member. Michele’s family loved Pat and watched after her. They shared many, many happy times together.
