Pearlie Vickers

Pearlie Mae Wimberly Dean Vickers, 92, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Monday, August 9, 2010 at her residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. DeWitt Phillips. Brother Lem Joiner, and Rev. Tim Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Black Jack Baptist Church Cemetery with William "Pnut" Johnson, James Knight, Albert Wimberly, Lawson "Big Boy" Wimberly, Jeff "Buddy" Wimberly, and Durwood Pollock serving as active pallbearers. Mrs. Vickers was born August 27, 1917 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Duvewood Wimberly and Martha Lennie Sapp Wimberly. She was a homemaker and a compassionate care giver for the elderly for many years. Mrs. Vickers attended Oak Grove Christian Church and was a honorary member of American Legion Post # 122. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence David Dean, Sr.; her second husband, Eldridge Vickers; her brothers, Robert Wimberly, Willie Rufus "Buck" Wimberly, Willard "Preacher" Wimberly, and Lawson Wimberly; her grandson, Daryl McGinnis; and her great-grandson, Hunter James McGinnis. Survivors include her sons, David Dean and his wife Rosanne of Loganville, GA, Sam Dean and his wife Dot of Bainbridge, GA, and Jerry Dean of Whigham, GA; her daughters, Linda McGinnis of Smyrna, GA, Debra Phillips and her husband DeWitt of Bainbridge, GA, Sylvia Young and her husband Phillip of Faceville, GA, and Malinda Brinson May of Whigham, GA; her sisters, Mallie Pollock and her husband Nathan of Pelham, GA, Fannie Boutwell of Vada, GA, and Mary Bell Archer of Pensacola, FL; her grandchildren, Stacey Hyatt, Leanne Fulcher, Derek "Bubba" McGinnis, Jessica Eakin, Brandon Dean, Bobbie Jean Shockley, Donald "Bubba" Knight, Jr., and James Knight; 22 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
