Penny Rae Carter Banks, 60, of Bainbridge, GA, formerly of Atlanta, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017.A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Box 1528, Bainbridge, GA 39818.Penny Rae Carter was born November 23, 1956 in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of Billy Ray Carter and Marsha Rae Mathews. Penny moved to southwest Georgia in 1998 and retired from Decatur County Schools as a bus driver. She married James Ray Banks in March 2010.Penny was a caring and loving person. She shared her loved with others on the school bus every day. Her outgoing personality made her a magnet, especially for children, that needed a kind word. Penny enjoyed the outdoors and loved to catch fish. When she wasn't baiting her pole, she could be found in her kitchen where she enjoyed trying new recipes.Survivors include her husband, James Ray Banks; her children, Tiffany Fennell of Atlanta, Crystal Summerlin of Bainbridge, Kristie Banks of Morgan, Amanda Pearce and Jessica Perkins, both of Bainbridge; and her fourteen grandchildren. Penny was preceded in death by her parents.
