Penny Barnes

Penny Dee Barnes, age 68, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023, in Whigham, Georgia. Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 19, 2:00 p.m., at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Climax, Georgia. Penny was born in Germany to Don Livingston Barnes and Billie Cunningham Barnes. With a military father, the family traveled extensively. She was a very beautiful, intelligent lady. Until she became disabled, she worked for the United States Post Office in Seattle, Washington. Penny loved the ocean and sailing, and even won a sailing competition. She loved listening to music and shopping. She deeply loved her family. Penny became part of the Kelly family when she met Calvin Kelly over 20 years ago. He took good care of and protected her until the end. Penny loved the Kelly family gatherings. Riding motorcycles was their passion, especially the Trail of Tears ride. They loved the Indian heritage and anything Southwestern. Penny was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, her soulmate, Calvin E. Kelly, and two cats, Monster and Peach.
