Mr. Perry W. Sanders, 73, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009 at his residence, with his family by his side. The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Port City Church of God with Rev. Mylan Brookins, Rev. Joel Hudgins, and Dr. H.W. Rutledge officiating. Interment will follow at Notchaway Baptist Church Cemetery in Baker County, GA with Ronnie Lightsey, Reese Rollins, Blake Martin, Bobby Davis, Phillip Martin, Derick Creekmore, and Shane Gay serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell West, Tommy Heath, and employees of Winn-Dixie, Flint River Mills, and Southeastern Minerals. Mr. Sanders was born March 9, 1935 in Baker County, GA, the son of Odom Vincent Sanders and Lucy Bell Black Sanders. He retired with over 30 years service with Winn-Dixie and was the owner/operator of Sanders Floor Cleaning Service. His faith was Pentecostal. Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Sanders, and a sister, Dorothy Sanders. Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Calista Glass Sanders of Bainbridge, GA; two sons, Bobby Ward Sanders and his wife Cynthia of Colquitt, GA, and Billy Ray Sanders and his wife Pam of Bainbridge, GA; three daughters, Becky Maestas and her husband Ron of Climax, GA, Charlene Sanders and her husband Homer Reid of Cairo, GA, and Debbie Creekmore and her husband Larry of Dothan, AL; a brother, Horace Sanders of Reynoldsville, GA; five grandchildren, Rita Mize, Matthew Maestas, Maranda Potter, Didi Davis, and Christopher Sanders; four great-grandchildren, Jade Porter, Allison Porter, Cameron Nichols, and Ethan Davis; and his loving bird, Tigi.
