Funeral services for Phillip D. Kelly, age 46 of Climax, GA, will be held Monday, February 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Stanley Phillips and Rev. Steve Poppell officiating. Interment with Fireman's Honors will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Thomas Josey, Wayne Blanton, Chris Wynn, Frank Kay, Jerry Hatcher and Kenny King serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be all fireman and employees of Decatur County Public Works. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Cox - Ware Funeral Home. Phillip was born in Decatur County January 24, 1964 the son of Emmitt Kelly, Jr. and Annette Shephard Kelly. He married Pamela Cochran in October 1982. He formerly worked for Ware's Auto and Farm Supply in Climax and was a supervisor with the Decatur County Public Works. He lived all his life in Decatur County, was of the Baptist faith and was a very important part of the Climax Volunteer Fire Dept. serving as Assistant Chief and a first responder. His radio name was Climax-2. Phillip is survived by his wife of twenty seven years Pamela Cochran Kelly of Climax; one son Darryl Ryan Kelly of Climax; parents Emmitt and Annette Kelly of Climax; two daughters Christy Miller and husband Eric of Bainbridge and LaJonna Renee Cochran of Decatur, AL; one sister Clara Ann Robinson and husband Chad of Iron City; two brothers Rick Kelly and wife Jessie and Jeff Kelly and wife Marilyn all of Climax; one grandson James J.J. Hines of Bainbridge and several nieces and nephews.
