Phillip James Miller, 84, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at his residence. The graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Cool Springs Cemetery with Rev. Andrew Miller officiating. Active pallbearers will be Rusty Day, Colton Day, Nathaniel Miller, Matthew McCormick, Michael McCormick, and Ben Knowles. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. Mr. Miller retired after 25 years as a corrections officer with the Florida Department of Corrections. Phillip was a member of Faceville Baptist Church. His family will remember how he enjoyed working in the yard, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Linda Lee Myers of Bainbridge, GA; his children, Lisa Miller and her husband, Andy, of Tallahassee, FL, Dorothy Day Chaney, and her husband, Jonathan, of Bascon, FL, Lurleen McCormick of Denver, CO, and Dereck J. Miller of Bainbridge, GA; his grandchildren, Laura Knowles and her husband, Ben, Colton Day, Nathaniel Miller, Michael McCormick, and Matthew McCormick; his great-granddaughter, Michaela Lee Knowles; close friends, Pauline Miller, and Glenda Barfield; and Athena. He was preceded in death by his siblings, William Miller, Donald Kaiser, and Blanche Cassamassa.
