Ralph Powell

Ralph Powell, Sr., 95, of Brinson, GA, passed away Monday, April 26, 2010 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Brock and Rev. Stanley Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Chris Jackson, Lanier Lane, Reggie Dean, Otis Dean, Michael Gunn, John Cofty and Jim Merritt serving as active pallbearers. Members of the Walter C. Dancer Lodge #115 F. & A. M. will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Powell was born August 26, 1914 in Decatur County, GA, the son of William Homer Powell and Nancy Clay Powell. He was a farmer and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for many years. Mr. Powell was a member of the Walter C. Dancer Lodge #115 F. & A. M. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kathryn Gardner Powell, his daughter, Deborah P. Parker, his brother, Pete Powell and his four sisters, Myrtle Lane, Elizabeth English, Ruth Spooner and Vera Cofty. Survivors include his two sons, Edwin Powell and his wife Janice of Donalsonville, GA and Ralph Powell, Jr. of Brinson, GA; four grandchildren, Laura Lynn Powell, Stanley R. Powell, Marvin Parker, Jr. and Mary Parker Cook; and nine great-grandchildren.
