Rebecca Hollady

September 3, 1930 — November 11, 2018

On November 11, 2018, Rebecca Dodd Hollady flew home to Love. "Becky" was born in 1930 to Rev. Hubert and Gladys Harvey Dodd, a Methodist minister and his wife in the North Georgia conference.  She attended Jonesboro High School, and graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia where she majored in violin.  "Becky" married her husband Rev. Austin Hollady and worked side by side with him at the Wesley Foundation, a campus ministry at FSU.   Having been raised a "preacher's kid", Becky was well suited for ministry beside her husband, and together they impacted many lives and brought young people to Christ for over thirty-three years. Becky's marketing slogan to motivate students to attend church was, "If you feed them they will come", and those who were lucky enough to have a seat at her dining table, never forgot the experience. One of Becky's greatest talents was the ability to make others feel good about themselves.  She had a unique ability to connect people with each other, or with an opportunity they "could not miss'.  Becky always had a scripture verse or newspaper article saved for when she would see you next. After raising three daughters, Becky returned to school and received her master's degree in counseling education at FSU.  Becky would go on to work in several positions in the Leon County School System. Among her passions, Becky championed many social justice issues, and was politically active until the end.  She loved a good debate, a noble cause, and a Godly mission.  Becky had eyes to see the beauty in things that most people miss:  An overturned rock, a simple pine bough, a common peach pit....  Without question though, her greatest love in life were her children, for whom she would move heaven and earth. Becky is survived by her three daughters, Wendy, Tanya, and Traya Hollady, her two grandchildren, Avery and Miles Bebout, a sister, Berta Marbut, and seven beloved nieces and nephews.  Becky is also survived by wonderful friends who have faithfully cared for her during her illness.  She is predeceased by her husband Rev. Austin Hollady, her parents Rev. Hubert and Gladys Dodd, and her sisters Matilda Trawick and Virginia Dodd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to the following:  The Wesley Foundation at FSU, 705 West Jefferson Street, or the Dodd Scholarship Fund at Young Harris College, P.O. Box 275, Young Harris, GA 30582. There will be a visitation in the Parlor at Trinity Methodist Church on Thursday, November 15th between 4:00 and 6:00.  Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com .
