Richard Kent Perkins, age 59, of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026. A memorial service for Mr. Perkins will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 3:00 pm in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home with Donald Fabian officiating. Mr. Perkins will receive military honors. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Richard Kent Perkins was born on November 9, 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri to his parents, Richard Oren Perkins and Margaret Rosalie LaPage Perkins. On January 1, 2020, he married the love of his life, Rhondalyn Elaine Welsh Perkins in Hawaii. They made their home in Bainbridge in 2022. Rik enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, completed basic training, and then returned to graduate. He earned the rank of Sergeant. Rik enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs football games, being in their pool, and traveling with his wife. He loved playing fetch with his two fur babies, Zuma and Ripley. Rik’s family was very important to him, and he enjoyed spending time with them. He will be missed and never forgotten.
Rik Perkins is survived by his wife, Ronnie Perkins; his children, Ashton Perkins Blair (Marty) of Omaha, Nebraska and Joshua Perkins of Salt Lake City, Utah; his step-children, Tara Westervelt of Loganville, Georgia; Robert Strong of Chicago, Illinois, Sydney Peacher of Powder Springs, Georgia, Rhett Peacher who is stationed in South Korea serving in the United States Army and Rachael Prough (Jake) of Dallas, Georgia. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael Perkins and Darcy Dinneny and eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Mr. Perkins was predeceased by his father, Richard Oren Perkins, his mother, Meg Perkins-Mayville, his stepfather, David Mayville, and his brother, Steve Perkins.
