Rita Josey

Rita Kaye Johnson Josey, age 53, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021, on St. George Island, Florida. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 31, at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Climax, Georgia. Rita Kaye Johnson was born March 25, 1968, in Atlanta, Georgia to Roy Johnson and Wanda Musgrove Johnson. She was raised in Sycamore, Florida. Rita married Al Josey. She and her husband ran a plumbing company. Rita Kaye had a huge, vibrant personality. She was very loving and loved to make those around her smile. Brooke was her mother’s “Sunshine”. A “Mama Bear” for her daughter and her friends, Rita was a wonderful mother. Rita loved animals and loved her dogs like they were her babies. Her cure-all was the beach. Rita felt that salt water and sand would make everything from bad attitudes to depression better. She loved the beach. Rita Kaye Josey will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Rita Kaye Josey is survived by her husband, Al Josey of Tallahassee, Florida; daughter, Brooke Barr of Attapulgus, Georgia; father, Roy Johnson of Bainbridge, Georgia; brother, Gary Arnold of Hinesville, Georgia; and nieces Ashley and Courtney Arnold. She was preceded in death by her mother, Wanda Musgrove, son, Jason Josey, and son-in-law, Hunter Barr.
