Robert A. Hendrie, 80, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 at his residence. The funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Rev. Rudy Breunig, S. T. officiating. Peter Arsenault, Thomas Arsenault, Hal Hatcher, Tom Boland, and Emory Deen will serve as active pallbearers. Mr. Hendrie was born January 15, 1932 in Edinburgh, Scotland, the son of Jacobus Hendrie and Sarah Finn Hendrie. He emigrated to the United States in 1951 and worked as a taxi driver before becoming head of the electrical maintenance shop at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, CT. Mr. Hendrie retired from the hospital after 31 years. He married Marie Hendrie in 1980 and soon moved to Cambridge, NY were he fulfilled his dream of running a small sheep farm and Bed and Breakfast. He was a member of the Ham Radio Club in Glenn Falls, NY. In 2000 after moving to Bainbridge, GA he and Marie served as volunteers on the Judicial Citizens Review Panel for 5 years and he cheerfully assisted Marie with her many projects. Mr. Hendrie developed an interest in woodturning and joined the Wiregrass Woodturning Club of Dothan, AL. He enjoyed boating, watching the wildlife through his binoculars, and traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Survivors include his beloved wife of 32 years, Marie Hendrie of Bainbridge, GA; his sons, Robert A. Hendrie, Jr., of Bainbridge, GA and Warren Hendrie of Phoenix, AZ; his daughter, Eileen Hendrie of Phoenix, AZ; his brothers, Walter Hendrie of Ramsey, NJ, Douglas Hendrie of Ft. Meyers, FL, and Ronnie Hendrie of Brookfield, CT; his brothers-in-law, Peter Arsenault and his wife, Denise, of Greensboro, NC and Thomas Arsenault of Brooklyn, NY; and his beloved dog, Gigi. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Viola Hendrie; his second wife, Eileen Hendrie; and his brother, Jack Hendrie.
