Robert Eugene Horne, Sr., 83, of Iron City, GA, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020, at First Assembly of God in Donalsonville with Rev. James Scarborough officiating. Robert Eugene Horne was born March 14, 1936 in Cedar Springs, GA, the son of Robert Hardy Horne and Maggie Lou Conner Horne. He married Colleen Williams and they made their home in Seminole County. Eugene worked as a contractor and was a member of First Assembly of God in Donalsonville. Eugene had a knack for woodworking. He could build most anything you could think of from homes to the swings hanging from the porch. The sea walls he constructed stood as a symbol of his strong character and protective nature. His cabinetry houses fond memories for many local families. Eugene's love for the outdoors led him to spend time in the dove field, the deer stand and anywhere the fish were biting. Survivors include his children, Robert Eugene "Gene" Horne, Jr. and his wife, Beverly, of Bainbridge, GA, Marsha Golden and her husband, Ronnie, of Byron, GA, Steve Horne and his wife, Lori, of Donalsonville, GA, and Sherri Toole and her husband, Mike, of North Augusta, SC; his siblings, Geneva Lane of Donalsonville, GA, Rita Sirmons, and Kenneth Horne, both of Iron City, GA; his grandchildren, Patience, Mandy, Eva, Jeff and Davin; his great-grandchildren, Lucas, Arlen, Aiden, Ansley, Logan, Drew, Ethan, McKenzie, Kaitlyn, Bryson, Miya, Judah, Lydia and Evianna; and his great-great-grandson, Logan. In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Williams Horne; and his brothers, Robert Ashely Horne and John Roger Horne.
