Mr. Robert Earl Smith, age 83, passed away early on Monday, December 21, 2015, at his home in Bainbridge, Georgia. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at West Bainbridge Baptist Church. Pastor Jamie McMillan will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be held in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Ricky Cutts, Jessie Cutts, Jesse Hatton, Roger Smith, Randy Weathersby, Sammy Smith, and Jesse Griffin will serve as pallbearers. Robert Earl Smith was born September 30, 1932 to Andrew R. Smith and Rosa Lee Corley Smith. He was a lifelong resident of Bainbridge. Robert married his sweetheart, Betty Sue Hunt, on April 18, 1957, 58 years ago. He served, proudly, in the United States Army. Mr. Smith was a commercial driver; driving a propane truck. He was a very hard worker. Robert was a member of West Bainbridge Baptist Church. In his younger days, he loved to race cars. He enjoyed working in his yard and vacationing in the mountains. Robert Smith was a devoted family man. He will be sorely missed by the family he loved so very much. Robert Earl Smith is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Hunt Smith; his daughter, Terrie Smith Burney and husband, Troup H. Burney of Bainbridge; grandson, Alex Burney of Statesboro, Georgia; and his brother and sisters, C.M. Smith and wife, Carolyn, Wynell Cutts, and Susie Mae McCroan. Donations may be given in Mr. Smith's honor to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 S.E. 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, Florida 33131 or the American Cancer Society, 507 W. Third Street, Suite 4, Albany, Georgia 31701.
