Mr. Robert Hilton Talbert passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Georgia. Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2012, graveside, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Whigham, Georgia. Brother Denton Headrick will officiate. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Gateway Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia. Robert Hilton Talbert was born April 13, 1925 in Whigham, Georgia, to John Carbon Talbert and Cora Lee Moneyham Talbert. He graduated from Whigham School. Bob served in the U.S. Army. During World War II Mr. Talbert was awarded a Bronze Star for Valor. While in the Army he was sent to Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. There he studied to be a machinist; this work he continued after the Army. Later, Mr. Talbert worked at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital as Chief of Security. He attended Gateway Baptist Church. Bob enjoyed fishing and working in his woodshop. He made wonderful peanut brittle. His family remembers him as a good Christian man. Robert Hilton Talbert is survived by his wife, Gloria Nix Talbert of Thomasville, Georgia; children, Marion (Bubba) Talbert and wife, Linda of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Dennis Ray Talbert and wife, Nita of Bainbridge, Charmaine Hopkins and husband, Lonnie of Shreveport, Louisiana, Frances Lois LeRoy and husband, Jaye of Charlestown, West Virginia, Vickie Raenell Bearden of Valdosta, Georgia, Barbara Ann Castleberry and husband, Ricky of Thomasville, Georgia, Richard Ray Bearden, Jr. and wife, Nina of Quitman, Georgia ; sister, Linda Gail Harris and husband, Douglas of Bainbridge; brother, Jerry Talbert and wife, Betty of Thomasville; 15 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
