Roland Culverson, 68, of Whigham, GA, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge, GA. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Whigham, GA. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 17, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Culverson was born October 26, 1940 in Bainbridge, GA, the son of D. Lamar Culverson and Marie Dixon Culverson. He was a heavy equipment operator and master mechanic for International Union of Operating Engineers Local 926. He was of the Baptist faith, a former mason, and an avid fisherman and hunter. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Culverson. Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Culverson of Whigham, GA; three sons, Roy Culverson and Ronnie Culverson, both of Snellville, GA, and Randall Grubbs of Colquitt, GA; a daughter, Marilyn Culverson of Roswell, GA; a stepson, Rick Bland and his wife Pamella of Whigham, GA; four stepdaughters, Brenda Anvar and her husband Bijon of Climax, GA; Gail Thomas and her husband Robert, Laura Lashley and her husband Harry, and Tammie Moore and her husband Henry, all of Bainbridge, GA; three brothers, Marvin Culverson of Havana, FL, D. L. Culverson of Bainbridge, GA, and Rodger Culverson of Lake Butler, FL; two sisters, Joan Brock and Bonnie Lee Campbell both of Bainbridge, GA; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
