Ronald S. Sams, 72, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at Miller Nursing Home in Colquitt, GA. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Kirkland officiating and will conclude at the chapel. Interment will be at West Bainbridge Cemetery with Lamont Bullock, Terry Smith, Daryl Smith, Larry Hutto, James Cristante and Bob Daughtry serving as active pallbearers. Mr. Sams was born August 13, 1939 in Parkersburg, WV, the son of Emanuel Rupert Sams and Mary Ella Williams Sams. He attended Bainbridge High School and was a truck driver for Flint River Mills where he won several awards, including truck driver of the year. He enjoyed antique cars and attended First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his son, Ronnie Sams and his wife, Caryn, of Bainbridge, GA, his sister, Angelyn Bullock of Bainbridge, GA; his grandchildren, Kevin Childree, William Childree and Ronald Sams, Jr., all of Bainbridge, GA; several nieces and nephews; and his very special friend, Betty Smith of Bainbridge, GA.
