Rosemary Gibson

Rosemary Dianne Johnson Gibson passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022, surrounded by her loving family in Climax, Georgia. Services for Dianne will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 27, at Magnolia Baptist Church, 1106 Magnolia Road, Whigham, Georgia. The Rev. Jimmy Ausburn will officiate. Interment will follow in Pine Park Cemetery, 3783 Pine Park Street, Grady County, Georgia. John Gainous, John Eakin, Darryl Boyett, Wade Croley, Jerry Heard, and Sam Fletcher will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1:00. Rosemary Dianne Johnson was born December 29, 1943, in Climax, Georgia. Her parents, L. V. Johnson and Lavene Willis Johnson have preceded her in death. Dianne graduated from Cairo High School, class of 1962. That was also the year she married the love of her life, Melton Eugene (Gene) Gibson. She and Gene made their home and raised their son Derek in Climax until Gene’s death in 1991. Dianne was a talented seamstress and quilter. She worked many years at the Jack Winter Company and later at Darwood Manufacturing. She was a Textile Engineer for Darwood. Dianne was smart. She was also plain spoken. If the need arose, she would tell you her opinion! Dianne was an excellent cook. Her chocolate pie, homemade macaroni and cheese, and tomatoes and rice would win Blue Ribbons, no matter the competition. True fisherman in the South love to fish for Brim. She did love to fish and knew how to catch them. Dianne has cruised from Alaska to Holland and many, many places in between. She loved to travel and never met a stranger. She was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church. Dianne will be deeply missed by the family she loved so dearly and her many, many friends. Dianne Gibson is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Kitty Gibson of Climax; brother, Dahl Johnson (Kay) of Cairo, Georgia; sister, Scewilla Elliott (Robert) of Fort Mitchell, Alabama; grandchildren, Erin Heard (Ben) of Bainbridge, Stephan Berry (Lacy) of Dothan, Alabama, and Jesse Smith of Athens, Georgia; and great-grandchildren, Adelynn Heard, Carter Berry, and Shelby Turner.
