Roy Wilson Johns, 90, of Recovery, GA and formerly of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Wills Memorial Hospital in Washington, GA. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Recovery United Methodist Church with Rev. Donna Sue Roberts and Rev. James Olivent officiating. Interment will follow at Sylvania Cemetery with Scott Chandler, George Chandler, Eddie Potter, Terry Holt, Paul David Johns, Jim Maxwell, and J. R. Sessions serving as active pallbearers. Mr. Johns was born October 12, 1920 in Decatur County, GA, the son of Leroy Johns and Mattie Wilson Johns. He was a retired supervisor for the Gulf Power Company and a local farmer. Mr. Johns was a member of Recovery United Methodist Church and was the last surviving family member of his generation. Survivors include his son, Ronald Johns and his wife Frances of Tampa, FL; his daughters, Patsy Chandler and her husband George of Winterville, GA, Peggy Evans of Bainbridge, GA, Emily Sessions and her husband J. R. of Gordon, AL, Debra Maxwell and her husband Jim of Havana, FL, and Teresa Ebanks of Tampa, FL; his ten grandchildren; and his four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Fletcher Johns; his grandson, Matt Evans; his sisters, Mary Potter and Varue Holt; and his brothers, Alton Johns, Alvin Johns, and Paul Johns.
