Sara Mason "Nanny" LongJanuary 21, 1940 - April 17, 2023 Sara Mason Long, age 83, of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 21, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Bainbridge with Reverend Chris Humphries officiating. A graveside service will follow at Colquitt City Cemetery with Steven Olds, Chris Olds, Richard Ivey, Jr., Travis Pickle, Trent Pickle, and Tracy Pickle serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Sara was born January 21, 1940 in Leary, Georgia the daughter of Bill Mason and Una Mason. She grew up in Colquitt, Georgia. She met the love of her life and married Troy between her Junior and Senior year of high school. She then moved to Tifton, where she graduated in 1958. Sara worked at Southern Bell for over ten years as a telephone operator. She was a bookkeeper and secretary for many companies around Bainbridge. Sara was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Bainbridge. She was in the Ron Betts Sunday School class and taught GAs in the past. Nanny was the number one fan for the Atlanta Braves, she loved playing cards with her friends and family, and loved ceramics and crocheting (she was known for her scrubbies.) She was a loving, Christian woman. Sara was giving and kind to everyone. She will be deeply missed by everyone she touched through her life. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Troy D. Long, Sr.; children, Troy Douglas Long, Jr. (Julie) of Bainbridge, GA and Carolyn L. Thompson (Jeff) of Bainbridge, GA; grandchildren, Steven Olds, Laycee Williams (Tony), Stephanie Ivey (Richard), Chris Olds (Stephanie), Victoria Long, and Beth Campbell (Charlie); great grandchildren, Ryan, Brooke, Sydnee, Jeff, Henry, Charlee, Gracee, Jack, Blayne, Conner, and Alyssa; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sara was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Leah Long; and great grandson, Dylan Olds. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Bainbridge or a charity of your choice. The Long family has entrusted the arrangements to Ivey Funeral Home, 502 S. Scott Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819.
