Sarah Benton Shirley, age 84, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2025, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville, Georgia. The family is planning a service to be held later in Pensacola, Florida.
Sarah Benton was born July 14, 1940, in Donalsonville, Georgia, to Jessie James Benton and Hattie Inez Smith Benton. Sarah was an avid sportswoman. She loved fishing, boating, going to the beach and spending time with her family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and a contagious smile. She was a loving wife and mother and will be deeply missed.
Sarah Benton Shirley is survived by her daughter, Lisa Rose Faircloth of Monroe, Washington; stepchildren, Kenny Shirley of Murrieta, California and Tammy Shirley of Pensacola. Florida; sisters, Betty Ruth Whittaker and Patsy Benton of Donalsonville; grandchildren, Little Sarah, Leanna, Ryan, and Candice; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Shirley; parents; daughter, Sylvia Ann Ard; brother, James R. Benton; sisters, Lucille Kirkland and Hazel Louise Jones; and grandchild, Christopher Hunsuckle.
