Sarah Durham Ward, 88, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018.The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. David Grubbs officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Jimmy Cooper, Wesley Cooper, Ward Cooper, John Ward, Bobby Ward and Wade Brock serving as active pallbearers.The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Zion Church Road, Bainbridge, GA 39817.Sarah Belle Durham was born September 28, 1929 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of William Franklin Durham and Ida Belle Hunt Durham. She was a graduate of Climax High School and member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She worked for several years at Southern Bell as a telephone operator. Sarah was married to Vance Augustus Ward, who preceded her in death. Sarah loved her grandchildren and always took a minute to share a word of advice. She kept up to date with world news in between her favorite television shows and cooking. Sarah enjoyed a road trip and was always up for traveling adventures. She regularly purchased lottery tickets in hopes of hitting it big and seeing the world. Sarah had an inquisitive spirit that lead her to study and talk about the Bible with anyone that would listen. Survivors include her children, Paul Ristow of Donalsonville, Jackie Ward Cooper of Bainbridge, Mark & Terry Ward, also of Bainbridge, and Bill & Lisa Ward of Colquitt; her grandchildren, Alyson & Craig Houston, Wesley & Amanda Cooper, John Ward, Bobby Ward & Kirby Parramore, Katie Askew, Jimmy & Taryn Cooper, Lee & Tracy Ward, Ward Cooper & Lindsey Neu, Josh & Melissa Leathers, Hunter Riley & Kailee Cumbie; and her great-grandchildren, Braden, Durham, Penelope, Waylon, Scarlett, Carter, Marleigh Kate, Hope and Kaidence. In addition to her parents and husband, Sara was preceded in death by her siblings, Franklin Durham, Lottice Durham, Jacquelyn Durham, and Myra Durham.
