Selma Roberts Thomas, 80, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Medley and Rev. Lynn Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery in Meigs, GA with Bobby Thomas, Jon-Michael Thomas, Jack Thomas, Jr., Tommy Bernier, Joe Todd, and Dean Tucker, Jr. serving as active pallbearers and the Lydia Sunday School Class serving as honorary pallbearers. Mrs. Thomas was born December 8, 1928 in Colquitt County, GA, the daughter of John Mercer Roberts and Norma West Roberts. She was a 1946 graduate of Meigs High School, a dental assistant and a member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class and was very active in the W.M.U. Survivors include her husband, Charles Edward Thomas of Bainbridge, GA; three sons, Bruce Thomas and his wife Linda of Woodstock, GA, John Thomas and his wife Cyrena of Spanish Fort, AL and Alan Thomas and his wife Connie of Cobb, GA; one brother, Herman L. Roberts of Meigs, GA; two sisters, Nell Bernier of Bainbridge, GA and Martha Ann Hines of Bainbridge, GA; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
