Simon Brock

Mr. Simon Brock, Jr., 93, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Bainbridge Health Care in Bainbridge, GA. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2007 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Conrad Salter officiating. A private interment will follow at Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery in Hopeful, GA. Active pallbearers will be Dale Brock, Donald Brock, Emmett Brock, Irvin Brock, Ray Brock, Wade Brock, and Wendell Brock. Simon was born October 28, 1913 in Decatur County, GA to the late Simon Brock and Candice Wooten Brock. He attended school at Mt. Pleasant and West Bainbridge, where he graduated. He served in the Marine Corps and afterwards was employed as a supervisor for the exchange service in Fort Benning, GA. He then moved to Macon where he retired as a salesman for Lance, Inc. Simon was ordained as a deacon in 1944and has since been active in Baptist Churches in Columbus, Macon and back to his roots at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Vada, GA. Simon was the first manager of Decatur County Senior Center and after retiring from this position he remained a faithful participant. Some of his fondest memories were growing u with his 8 siblings, and at the age of 93, he was the last remaining. He spent his retirement years on his ancestral grounds where he had many fond memories of his youth. Simon loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and spent much of his time here on earth serving him. He has now gone to reap his eternal reward. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Eunice Cross Brock. Survivors include his wife, Ouida Brock of Bainbridge, GA; two daughters, Jill Scott and Sandra Bowers (and husband Bill), all of Bainbridge, GA; 2 sisters-in-law, Virginia Brock and Pauline Brock, both of Bainbridge, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
