Spencer E. Salter, 87, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 at Memorial Manor Nursing Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at First Christian Church with Minister Freddie Wellborn and Rev. David Grubbs officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery with his grandsons serving as active pallbearers. Salter and Temptie Thompson Salter. He married Hazel Harrell on November 11, 1943 and served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II. He was a retired shift manager for M&M Mars, a member of Albany Christian Church and V.F.W. Post 2785 of Albany, GA, and was a bass singer for the Salter Brothers Quartet. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Hazel Harrell Salter; his sons Weyman Salter and his wife Diane of Albany, GA, Conrad Salter and his wife Paula of Vada, GA, and Daryl Salter and his wife Barbie of Leesburg, GA; his daughters Barbara Salter Shepard and her husband Wayne of Quincy, FL, and Hilda Salter Bullington of Putney, GA; his four brothers, William J. Salter of Irving, TX, C. Nathan Salter of Bainbridge, GA, J. D. Salter of Bainbridge, GA, and Joe P. Salter of Climax, GA; two sisters, Mildred S. McNair of Climax, GA and Edna S. Brock of Bainbridge, GA; his 14 grandchildren; his 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
