Wayne Wheeler

On Sunday afternoon, September 27, 2026, Mr. Steven Wayne Wheeler, age 74 of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away in Tallahassee, Florida.

Steven Wayne Wheeler was born August 27, 1952 in Macon, Georgia to Eunice Leonard Wheeler, Jr. and Gladys Wynell Cooley Wheeler. Wayne and his best friend and wife, Suzanne Davis Wheeler, have been married for 48 years. He was the best husband, father, and Pappy anyone could ask for. His heart belonged to the grandchildren. He enjoyed their company, and they enjoyed him. Wayne was in retail management and had a talent for handling the day-to-day business of running a large store. He was the manager of the K-Mart in Bainbridge for many years. Wayne had a zest for life, and people were drawn to him. His laugh was contagious, you just had to join him in laughter. Wayne loved to joke around and had a smart wit. He always had an answer even if you didn't want to hear it. He loved to go fishing in his spare time and loved to eat ice cream. Getting with the boys and going to the eating meeting and playing poker was great fun for Wayne. He was always ready to handle the handiwork around the house. Wayne was an avid, and I mean avid, University of Georgia Football fan. His loving family and many friends will miss Wayne Wheeler and will never forget him.

Steven Wayne Wheeler is survived by his wife, Suzanne Davis Wheeler of Bainbridge; children, Scott Alvin Wheeler (Majestic) of Navarre, Florida and Steven Matthew Wheeler (Stefanie) of Thomasville, Georgia; sisters, Cathy Fountain Jones (Red) and Susan Wheeler, both of Macon; grandchildren, Ayden, Bryce, Ryanne, Ava, and Elijah; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Mike Wheeler.
