Sue Sims Hollis, 65, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at her residence. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009 at St. John's Episcopal Church with Rev. James Clendenin officiating with Doug David, Chris Nelson, Dale Brock Clayton Penhallegon, Richard Smith and John McRae serving has active pallbearers. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 25, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at her residence, 1505 Twin Lakes Drive, Bainbridge, GA. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Sue was born March 23, 1944 in Wilmington, NC, the daughter of Frederick Haynes Sims and Lessie Smith Sims. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1962 and a graduate of Georgia Southern University. She retired as a teacher with over twenty-eight years of service from the Decatur County public school system. Sue was a member of the Decatur/Seminole Retired Educators, St. John's Episcopal Church and various prayer groups and book clubs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin L. Hollis. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 516 E. Broughton St., Bainbridge, GA 39817, Friendship House, P.O. Box 513, Bainbridge, GA 39818 or Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society, P. O. Box 429, Bainbridge, GA 39818. Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth H. Wynn and her husband Rich of St. Joe Beach, FL, Julie H. Martin and her husband Stephen of Daphne, AL and Susan H. Thompson and her husband Rhett of Ailey, GA; her brother, Charles F. Sims and his wife Merium of Byron, GA; her sister, Jenny Herring and her husband Bill of Bainbridge, GA; and four grandchildren, Lucy Malone Martin of Daphne, AL, Addie Kate Thompson of Ailey, GA, Stephen Hollis Martin of Daphne, AL and Caroline Elizabeth Thompson of Ailey, GA.
