Susan Hales Calhoun, 83, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Friday, September 27, 2013 at Riverside Place. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Harrell officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Dennis Faircloth, Wayne "Buddy" Faircloth, Daniel Ingram, Rex Padgett, Cliff Padgett, and Shawn Edwards serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28,2013 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Memorial donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 432 East Shotwell Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819. Mrs. Calhoun was born October 30, 1929 in Echo, AL, the daughter of Jacob Hales and Camella Mims Hales, and lived most of her life in Bainbridge, GA. She was a graduate of Donalsonville High School, Class of 1946. She retired in 1991 as an inspector at Williamson-Dickies Manufacturing. Mrs. Calhoun was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She loved working in the yard, planting flowers and trees, and watching the birds at the feeders. She loved to shop with her daughters. Mrs. Calhoun was usually a quiet person, but witty at times. She loved having laughter and fun times with her children. Survivors include her children, Martha I. Baggett and her husband, Steve, of Warner Robins, GA, Danny Ingram and his wife, Brenda, of Tallahassee, FL, Cherry I. Sherman and her husband, Bruce, of Chipley, FL, Debbie I. Erwin and her husband, Bill, of Camilla, GA, Beverly I. King and her husband, Michael, of Bainbridge, GA, and Lori I. Puckett and her husband, Mark, of Newnan, GA; her sister, Ruby H. Parker; her 9 grandchildren; and her 9 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Calhoun was preceded in death by her husbands, Denver Ingram and Lawson Calhoun; and her siblings, Carson Hales Cazey Hales, Alice H. Darbyshire, Ella H. Johnson, Beatrice H. Hicks, and Ruth H. Faircloth.
