Mrs. Sybil McCurdy Thompson, 86, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2010 at Palm Gardens Nursing Home in Largo, FL. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Willis officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Kenneth Nelson, Jim Freudenberg, Trey Stokes, Glen Stokes and Aaron Minix serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mrs. Thompson was born May 16, 1923 in LaGrange, GA, the daughter of Mr. William Hill McCurdy and Mrs. Lillian Broxton McCurdy. She was a homemaker and a former member of Bethany Baptist Church. Mrs. Thompson was a loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Pope Thompson. Survivors include her daughters, Diane Freudenberg and her husband Jim of Largo, FL and Pamela Nelson and her husband Kenneth of Tallahassee, FL; her son, Danny Guthrie and his wife Betty of Brinson, GA; her sister, Hilda Dobbins of Lakeland, FL; her grandchildren, Dewayne Guthrie, Renee Guthrie, Shelbi Nelson, Trey Stokes and his wife Jennifer and Glen Stokes; her great-grandchildren, Misty Stokes Cannon, Aaron Minix, and Chrissy Stokes; and several nieces.
