Mr. T. W. "Tommy" Griffin, 84, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, GA. The funeral service will be Saturday April 14, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Shepard officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with his grandchildren serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2007 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 243 Mt. Zion Church Road, Bainbridge, GA 39817. Mr. Griffin was born October 16, 1922 in Miller County, GA to the late O. L. Griffin and Mattie Lou Addison Griffin. He was a farmer, a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served many years as Chairman of the Board of Deacons, and a Past President of Decatur County Farm Bureau. Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by two brothers Robbie Griffin and Willie Griffin; and two sisters Ollie Mae Vespa and Eugenia Attaberry. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lillian G. Griffin of Bainbridge, GA; two sons, James E. Griffin and wife Kaye of Bainbridge, GA, and Stuart Griffin and wife Becky of Bainbridge, GA; two daughters, Janice "Sissy" Sims of Tampa, FL, and Linda Gail Brown and husband George of Bainbridge, GA; three sisters, Lou Freeman, Martha Winn, and Pauline Kelly, all of Colquitt, GA; 8 grandchildren, Jim Griffin, Barry Webb, Zane Griffin, Bo Griffin, Cory Webb, John Griffin, Tom Griffin, and Mollie Griffin; and 2 great-grandchildren, Jacob Webb and Grayson Griffin.
