Teresa Smith, 69, of the Delwood Community in Mitchell County, GA, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at her residence. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Doug Hall and Dr. Calvin Arnold officiating. Interment will follow at Delwood Baptist Church Cemetery with Sammy Smith, John Sims, Stan Davis, Ray Stoudenmire, Steve Weeks, and Steve McCoy serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Ivey Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to: Gentiva Hospice at 432 East Shotwell Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819 or Delwood Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Janet Brock at 242 Mt. Mrs. Smith was born June 16, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Alfred Edward Wood and Janet Doris Bell Wood. She married Crawford W. Smith on June 11, 1966. Mrs. Smith moved to the Delwood Community in 1976. She was a graduate of Valdosta State College and worked in Food Services for Decatur County Board of Education for thirteen years. She was of Catholic faith. Teresa always saw the good in people and loved everyone, especially her family. As a homemaker, she took time to care for her friends and family. Her hobbies included gardening, quilt making, cross stitching, traveling and genealogical research. Teresa enjoyed holidays and Christmas was her favorite. Survivors include her husband, Crawford W. Smith of the Delwood Community; her children, Janet Smith of Bainbridge, GA and Monty Smith of Atlanta, GA; her siblings, Valerie Benoit and her husband, Mike, of Atlanta, GA, Christopher Wood and his wife, DeeAnn, of Buford, GA, and Connie Wood of Dixon, NM; her grandchildren, Anna Jordan of Bainbridge, GA and Ryan Jordan of Bainbridge, GA; many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Honey Pot Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents.
