Thomas Spooner

Thomas Spooner, 88, of Attapulgus, GA, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Jeff Stapleton officiating. Interment will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery with Ross Spooner,Jr., Mike Spooner, Jerry Phillips, Brian Donalson, Stacy Roberts, and Dean Roberts serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 21, 2008 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Thomas was born June 17, 1919 in Decatur County, GA, the son of James Spooner and Sadie Mitchell Spooner. He was a graduate of Attapulgus High School, Class of 1940. Thomas was a retired farmer and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Spooner and James Spooner, Jr. Survivors include; his brother, Jesse Spooner of Bainbridge, GA; his two sisters, Mary Phillips of Winder, GA and Pauline Smith of Bainbridge, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
