Mr. Vernon T. Shaw, 86, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at his residence. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Ivey Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Danny Shepherd and Reverend Paul Medley officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with masonic rites and military honors. Orion Lodge # 8 F. & A.M. will serve as active and honorary pallbearers. The Baraca Sunday School Class will also serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2007 at Ivey Funeral Home. Mr. Shaw was born on August 21, 1921 in Tift County, GA to the now late James Livingston and Bessie McCard Shaw. Prior to his retirement with 39 years of service, Mr. Shaw was a sales representative for Nabisco. He married Sarah Evelyn Holland on July 16, 1945. Mr. Shaw was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 4904, American Legion Post 62, past Worshipful Master of Orion Lodge #8 F&AM and all bodies, Bainbridge Shrine Club, past Potentate (1989) of the Hasan Shrine Temple and past Worthy Patron of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 267. He served with the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Baraca Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn H. Shaw of Bainbridge, GA; two sons, Dwain Shaw of Evans, GA and Vernon T. Shaw, Jr. of Bainbridge, GA; two daughters, Jill Shaw of Valdosta, GA and Tammy Connell of Faceville, GA; one sister, Frances Alton of Augusta, GA; five grandchildren, Jennifer Knight of Evans, GA, Derek Shaw of Bainbridge, GA, Brookie Manny of Villa Rica, GA, Rebecca Hazen of Rentz, GA and Thomas Connell of Faceville, GA; three great grandchildren, Shaw Knight and Cody Knight of Evans, GA, and Sarah Elizabeth Hazen of Rentz, GA.
