Virgil Lee Lewis, 86, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010 at her residence. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. David Grubbs and Rev. Scott Messer officiating. Interment will follow at Colquitt City Cemetery with Bill Lewis, Al Bailey, M. J. Bodiford, Andrew Heard, Dale Nichols and Jason Giannars serving as active pallbearers. Mrs. Lewis was born January 31, 1924 in Newton, GA, the daughter of Lee Roy Lee and Susan Ervin Lee. She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Lewis; her sons, Thomas William Lewis and Clarence Melvin Lewis; her granddaughter, Pamela Bailey Chason; her brothers, Thomas Lee, Jake Lee and Peter Lee; and her sisters, Ethel DeBarry and Mary Lou Toole. Survivors include her son, Allen Lewis, Jr. and his wife Lucy of Bainbridge, GA; her daughters, Jewel Bailey and her husband Ricky, Betty Bailey Meredith and her husband Jim and Mattie Nichols and her husband Roger, all of Bainbridge, GA; 22 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
