Virginia Burke

Virginia Gloria Davis Burke, age 92, passed away on January 27, 2024 at her home in Bainbridge, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Burke will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Ivey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm prior to the service. Born to Robert Boyd Davis and Edna Thebeault Davis on December 1, 1931 in Groton, Connecticut, Mrs. Burke was a 1949 graduate of Robert E. Fletcher High School. She married the love of her life, Edward Patrick Burke, on March 17, 1950 and was married for 62 years.. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2012. Virginia was an avid reader and spent many hours shopping for antiques. A talented seamstress, she enjoyed watching murder mysteries, taking her daily walks for exercise, and playing solitaire on her ipad. Virginia was a quiet lady who loved cats especially her cat, CuddleBug. She was a homemaker who loved her children, her grandchildren and most especially her great-grandson, Tom. Mrs. Burke is survived by her children, Michael Burke and his wife, Rose, of Rock Hill, South Carolina; Terry Burke of North Charleston, South Carolina; and Patty Putnal and her husband, Joe, of Bainbridge. Her grandchildren: J.W. Putnal, Nicole Putnal Maxwell and her husband, Richard, Josef Burke, Mikalynn Burke, Leslie Burke Wagner, Eva Burke Torres, and Anthony Burke as well as a great-grandchildren, Tom Maxwell, Marissa Burke, and Brielle Burke. Mrs. Burke is also survived by her sister, Susan Gadue. Mrs. Burke was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brother-in-law, Pat Gadue.
