Virginia Harvey

July 29, 1920 — January 3, 2020

Virginia Harvey, 99, of Jakin, GA, passed away Friday, January 3, 2020. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Jakin First United Methodist Church with Rev. George Masciarelli and Rev. Dan Harper officiating.  Interment will follow at Harvey Family Cemetery with her nephews serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Jakin United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.  Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Ginny was born July 29, 1920 in Jakin Georgia, the daughter of J. Q. Harvey and Mattilelu Branan Harvey.  She was a graduate of Brunson High School (South Carolina) and Andrew College, Class of 1941.  She was the office manager for Harvey Implement Company until her retirement.  She was a member of Jakin United Methodist Church and stayed actively involved.  She was a member of Jakin Community Club and the Early County Historical Society, where she contributed to four volumes of the Early County History series.   She served as co-editor of Jakin Remembers.  In retirement, she loved traveling, spending time with her family, and her beloved Crystal Lake cabin. Survivors include her brother, Doug Harvey of Jakin, GA and many nieces and nephews.  Ginny was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Joseph Q. Harvey, Elsie H. Cannon, and Beverly H. Hartman.
