Virginia was born April 24, 1943, in Blairsville, Georgia to Victor Moore and Nolyn Davis Moore. She attended Berry College. Virginia married Sylvan Johnny Smith, and they added one precious little girl to complete their family. In 1991 they moved to Bainbridge. They were married 25 years before Sylvan preceded her in death. Virginia was a hard worker. She was a supervisor for the USDA until her retirement. She then worked as a secretary for the First Baptist Church of Bainbridge and then at Eastside Baptist Church in Cairo, Georgia before she retired, again. She worked as a receptionist for Cox Funeral Home until her real retirement. She was smart, articulate, and a born leader. She was a very active member of the Pilot Club of Bainbridge, serving in many positions of leadership. Virginia was devoted to her church and church family. She held many different positions as she worked in her church, the First Presbyterian Church of Bainbridge. Virginia had many, many friends she loved dearly but no one compared to her grandson, Drew. A devoted Christian, mother, and grandmother, now at rest. She will be deeply missed.

Virginia Moore Smith is survived by her daughter, Melissa Clayton (Brian) of Bainbridge and grandson, Drew Clayton, of Thomasville, Georgia. She has a sister, Ann Chastain, of Blairsville, Georgia. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Ralph Moore, Lora Moore, J. B. Moore, and Marge Nicholson.
