Virginia Wessinger

Virginia McCord Wessinger, 86, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Sutton Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynn Roberts officiating. The graveside funeral service will be held Monday, January 2, 2012 at Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington, GA with Minister of the Gospel David Lance McCord officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sutton Chapel United Methodist Church, Jenny Wessinger Steeple Fund, c/o Alan Davis, 180 Davis Road, Bainbridge, GA 39817. Jenny was born November 25, 1925 in Marietta, GA, the daughter of James Broadus McCord and Edna Pearl Martin McCord and was a graduate of Commercial High School in Atlanta. She was a secretary for Western Auto Co., Atlanta Auto Auction, and retired from McCord Mechanical Insulation Company. She was a member of Sutton Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include her brother, Larry McCord and his wife, JoAnne Godwin McCord, of Bainbridge, GA, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Wessinger and a son, Ancil Wessinger.
