Walter Harris

Walter O. Harris, 84, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008 at his residence. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Danny Shepard officiating. Interment to follow at Christ Church Cemetery in Baker County. Mr. Harris was born March 24, 1924 in Calhoun County, GA, the son of William Franklin Harris and Henrietta Wright Harris. He retired from Southern Fruit Company in Orlando, FL and Lynch Machinery Company in Bainbridge, GA. Mr. Harris was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his wife of twenty-four years, Janice M. Harris of Bainbridge, GA; five daughters, Annette Lyon and her husband Clayton of Niceville, FL, Jeanette Hess of Ocoee, FL, Alvia LaCorte of Spraggs, PA, Odena Graves of Orlando, FL and Linda Gail Barrett and her husband Robert of Ocoee, FL; one brother, James S. Harris of Bainbridge, GA; three sisters, Louise Brooks of Little Switzerland, NC; Mittie Lee Hancock of Pittsburg, TN and Jimmie Lou Moore and her husband Gene of Sewanee, TN; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
