Mr. Wayne McCook, 53, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday June 2, 2007 at El Bethel Baptist Church in Whigham, GA with Rev. Bob Knight officiating. Interment will follow at El Bethel Baptist Church in Whigham, GA with Ronnie Spooner, Bo Ladner, Jeff Ethredge, Dustin Starling, Tracy McCook, Tony McCook, Jimmy Slocumb, and Marcus Smith serving as active pallbearers. The men of El Bethel Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday June 1, 2007 at Ivey Funeral Home. Mr. McCook was born on November 25, 1953 in Bainbridge, GA to the late Edward George McCook and Lillian James McCook. Mr. McCook graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1972 and was employed as a sales representative for Flint River Electric for 28 years. Mr. McCook was member of El Bethel Baptist Church and was a member of the Bainbridge Cruisers Auto Club. He was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa McCook Childree. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Chason McCook of Bainbridge, GA; a son, Chason Wayne McCook and fiancé Abby Lord of Valdosta, GA; a daughter, Nike McCook Marshburn of Bainbridge, GA; two brothers, George McCook and Jimmy McCook both of Bainbridge, GA; and 2 grandchildren, C.J. Marshburn and Nickolas Marshburn of Bainbridge, GA.
