Wayne S. Tufts, 72, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donna Sue Roberts and Pastor Charlie Boyd officiating, and will conclude at the chapel. Interment will be at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Dennis Lambert, Jay Funderburke, Woody Belcher, Joe Burke, Danny Brown, and Charles Ingram serving as active pallbearers. Mr. Tufts was born January 6, 1941 in Cincinnati, OH, the son of John Oscar Tufts and Faye Augusta Tabor Tufts. He was a 1959 graduate of Loveland High School in Loveland, OH and was a veteran of the United Sates Air Force. Mr. Tufts was a member of Recovery United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Moorehead State University and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Mr. Tufts was a licensed funeral director having served at Tufts/Shieldmeyer Funeral Home in Loveland, OH, H. M. Patterson and Son in Atlanta, GA, Whitley-Garner Funeral Home in Douglasville, GA, Rosehaven Funeral Home in Douglasville, GA; Cain Funeral Home in Florence, SC, Hancock Funeral Home in Americus, GA; Culley Funeral Home in Tallahassee, FL, and retired from Ivey Funeral Home in Bainbridge, GA. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Yates Tufts of Bainbridge, GA; his son, Thom Tufts and his wife, Cyndi, of Kennesaw, GA; his daughter, Rhea Jeanne Starnes and her husband, David, of Acworth, GA; his brother, Robert Stevens Tufts and his wife, Kathryn, of Cincinnati, OH; his two grandchildren, Isabella Tufts and Chloe Tufts; and several nieces and nephews.
