Mr. Welton Russell Day, 85, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2007 at his residence in Bainbridge, GA. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2007 at First Christian Church with Minister Jeff Stapleton and Rev. Haskell White officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Vada, GA with Paul Maxwell, Richard Maxwell, Brent Day, David Whitaker, Mark Faircloth, Spencer Salter, Elton Keaton, Ronnie Keaton, Waymon Sharp, and Terrelle Smith serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of First Christian Church and Oak Grove Christian Church. Mr. Day was born February 19, 1921 in Decatur County, GA, the son of John Russell Day and Laura Dean Day. He married Ruby L. Hutto on November 28, 1942. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II and was a retired foreman and pattern maker with 21 years of service with Jack Winter, Inc., and 24 years of service with Ithaca Mills. He was a Deacon of First Christian Church, a charter member of V. F. W. Post 4904, and member of the Good Sam Travelers. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jamie Day. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Hutto Day of Bainbridge, GA; two sons, Dennis W. Day and wife Sharon, and Terry Day and wife Joyce, all of Bainbridge, GA; a sister, LaVerne Day Bellville of Bainbridge, GA; three grandchildren, Dena D. Maxwell, Brent Day, and Bridget D. Whitaker; and eight great-grandchildren, Richard, Malori, Cody, Brantly, Katie, Taylor, Kayla, and Emily.
