Willard Bowers

Willard Bowers, 92, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 in Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. CST on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Cedar Springs Assembly of God Church near Westville, FL with Pastor Roger Hagan, Pastor Ed Barnes and Dr. Charles Pettis officiating. Interment will follow at Camp Ground Cemetery near Westville, FL with Rodney Bowers, Reath Bowers, Ronnie Bowers, Roderick Bowers, Harry Miller and Park Goodson serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. CST on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Cedar Springs Assembly of God. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Bowers was born January 14, 1918 in Westville, FL, where he grew up and lived until moving to Pensacola, FL in the Late 1950's to work for Carroll Construction Company, from which he retired in 1976. His retirement years were spent working with his church and hanging out with his retired friends, until his health brought him to Tallahassee to live with his family. Mr. Bowers was preceded in death by his parents, Henry T. Bowers and Mary Ann Huggins Bowers; his older brother, Hubert Bowers; and his brother-in-law, Clyde Skinner. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Sally Harrell Bowers of Bainbridge, GA, his sister, Lonie Skinner of Westville, FL; and his nephews, Clyde Skinner and his wife Diane of Lancaster, SC, Thomas Skinner and his wife Jennifer of Tallahassee, FL, and Jerry Skinner and his wife Sharon of Westville, FL.
