Mr. William D. "Bill" Johnson, age 73 passed away Thursday, January 4, 2007 at his residence in Bainbridge, GA. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge, GA with Rev. David Grubbs and Rev. James Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Bainbridge, GA with Johnny Johnson, John Lott, Robbie Parker, Johnson Parker, Donnie Cleveland, Lamar Barbree, Greg Gilbert and Gene Powell serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2007 at Ivey Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to: Wiregrass Hospice, 432 E. Mr. Johnson was born on March 9, 1933 in Seminole County, GA, the son of Lester Benion Johnson and Moria Collins Johnson. He married Betty Jean Donley on August 23, 1951. He served in the Georgia National Guard and was a retired clerk with Engelhard Corporation with 34 years of service. He was a member of West Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Betty Donley Johnson of Bainbridge, GA; 2 sons: Billy Johnson and Tommy Johnson (Lisa), both of Bainbridge, GA; 1 daughter: Sandra Harrell of Bainbridge, GA; a brother: Cid Johnson of Canton, GA; 1 sister: Kathy Roberson of Jesup, GA; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
