Funeral services for Mr. William Bill Nix, age 66 of Bainbridge, will be Friday, May 15, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the First United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Russell Hardesty and Rev. Henry Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens with Dale Glover, Julian Crowder, Steve West, Walt Landrum, Tony Kelly, Ernie Finley, Andy Jones, Charles King, Brian Jones, and Tommy Jones serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 14, 2009 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Cox-Ware Funeral Home. Mr. Nix was born August 10, 1942 in Decatur County, GA to the now late Lee Roy and Rossie Powell Nix. He lived all of his life in Bainbridge, GA. He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1962 and in 1961 was named as a member of the Associated Press all state football team under Coach Onion Davis. Mr. Nix was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the First United Pentacostal Church in Bainbridge. He was an avid fisherman, loved his family and grandchildren, and was an accomplished artist. Mr. Nix passed away May 12, 2009 at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Iona Batchelor Nix of Bainbridge; sons, Ben Nix of Colquitt, GA and Chip Nix of Bainbridge, GA; four sisters, Pat Finley and Barbara Kelly both of Bainbridge, GA, Joanne Glisson of Columbus, GA, and Frances White of Thomasville, GA; one brother, Jarratt Nix of Bainbridge, GA; three grandchildren, Autumn Nix, Samantha Nix, and Colby Nix; and several Nieces and Nephews. Mr. Nix was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Billie Jo Nix, sisters, Betty Nix, Jeanette West, and Evelyn Jones, and brothers, Ralph Nix and James Nix.
