Zenie Elizabeth Durham Earnest, 94, of Brinson, GA, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Matthews and Rev. Ellis Hardwick officiating and will conclude at the church. Interment will be at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Roger Edmunds, Steve Dean, Jimmy King, Philip Barber, Butch Godby, and Sonny Couver serving as active pallbearers. Mrs. Earnest was born August 28, 1919 in Brinson, GA, the daughter of Perry Davis Durham and Orrie Mock Durham. She was a graduate of Brinson High School and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Mrs. Earnest was a devoted homemaker and wife. Survivors include her husband of 75 years , C. L. Earnest of Brinson, GA; her sons, Glenn Earnest and his wife, Melba, of Brinson, GA and Ray Earnest and his wife, Marsha, of Murfreesboro, TN; her grandchildren, Drake Earnest and his wife, Erin, of Murfreesboro, TN, Hal Earnest and his wife, Meredyth, of Bainbridge, GA, and Tray Earnest and his wife, Samantha, of Troy, AL; her great-grandchildren, Skylar Kate Earnest, Gunnar Drake Earnest of Murfreesboro, TN, Owen Durham Earnest, Virginia Bennett Earnest, of Bainbridge, GA; and Penelope Leigh Earnest of Troy, AL; and her nieces, Betty Jo Mathis, Jean Hendry, Cindy Stevens, and Frances Edmunds. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Faye Earnest; and her siblings, Rosa Ella Everett, Mary Lou Durham, Ellis Durham, and Jack Durham. The family would like to thank Mrs. Earnest's care-givers, Mary Durham, Tracye Beard and Michelle Hester. Their compassionate service will always be remembered by the family.
